WaveNET spearheads another regional first developing 3G PLAY

Thursday Nov 20, 2008
WaveNET’s 3G PLAY is an exclusive gaming platform that enables multi-player gaming via video calls on 3G-enabled handsets.

The application allows subscribers to challenge other players by making an inbound video call to the system, or participate in single player games with the system.

Total privacy can be maintained through user-profiling. 3G PLAY offers a range of game play experiences that include ‘Tik Tak’ (3G form of Tic Tac Toe) and ‘VPok3r’ (3G form of poker).

The mobile phone-based gaming industry has become tremendously popular over the past few years with users becoming increasingly competitive. This is despite a majority view that mobile-based games are only for casual-gamers who spend their idle time playing games on their phones.

With mobile telephones transforming into a more mass-market product, the focus now is to leverage the platform to convert non-gamers into casual mobile-game players.

Technology innovation heralded in the 3G-era, and today we have the option of using this facility to make gaming more accessible and entertaining by dialling into a portal to access a host of simple and addictive games.

Dialog Telekom PLC. Chief Operating Officer - Dialog Mobile, said: Supun Weerasinghe, “It is our vision to pave the way to make the mobile experience unparalleled and thereby more intimate to subscribers. Together with our partners, Dialog has revolutionised the local and regional telecom industry, and introduced a new dimension to user-experience through 3G technology.

3G PLAY will be another such significant milestone for both Dialog and WaveNET. Applications and solutions like 3G PLAY are designed to appeal to the ‘kid’ in all of us and inspire users to try and experiment with technology by hiding its complexity in a ‘fun’ package.

We are proud to collaborate with Dialog Telekom in bringing to market 3G PLAY and to bring about technology that is meaningful to users and drive adoption of 3G services in the future.” CEO, WaveNET Suren Pinto said.
